The Courts Add a New Threat to Businesses

Article Abstract:

Recent legal victories in lawsuits by victims of criminal attacks may be opening a whole new sector in American law. The lawsuits involved action not against the criminal, but against the owner of the business site where the criminal act occurred. This opens up a whole new aspect of business owner liability. The law requires foreseeability to injury on the part of a business owner, and the law is now extending this concept beyond the usual things such as icy steps. Business owners who want to protect themselves from these types of potential liability lawsuits need to start taking increased measures - such as parking lot lighting or security guards - to protect themselves.

One wedding and, luckily, no one's funeral

Article Abstract:

Theatre de Complicite encountered a number of challenges when producing a version of John Berger's novel 'To the Wedding' for BBC Radio 3. This was the first time that the company as a whole had worked for radio, and it involved the largest gathering of the company for some years. It was difficult to find a suitable actor for the role of Gino, one of the main characters, and there were problems with having the script ready on time.
