One Good Way to Teach Library Research To Business Writing Students

Article Abstract:

College students need to be taught good library research skills. Students are motivated when they feel they are learning something practical, so this teacher used an assignment that: 1) was relevant to students' needs, and 2) improved their library skills. Students were assigned a company, and were asked to write a report answering questions about the company using library sources such as Standard and Poor's Corporation Records, Moody's Investors Service, and The Wall Street Journal Index.

Citizenship and impression management: good soldiers or good actors?

Article Abstract:

An important factor in analyzing organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is impression management. Motivational factors such as job attitudes and personality are influences on OCB. The addition of impression management in those factors will improve understanding regarding OCB. The framework for such an approach covers three areas. These are image concerns that drive OCB, the resulting good image from OCB and the moderating effects of impression management on the organization.

Fumbling after grace: fishing and writing

Article Abstract:

Fishing, and particularly fly fishing, is a sport that is most often written about. The peacefulness associated with the sport, as well as habits of fishermen, are similar to those of writing. Both writing and fishing are rewarding for efforts put out and both require passion.
