Strategic management of intangible assets and value drivers in R&D organizations

Article Abstract:

A resource-based analysis is applied to research and development, and a theory is proposed that delineates the dynamic transformation and interaction of five primary resources: physical, relational, organizational, human, and monetary. The method allows identification of those which are over-utilized or under-utilized, helping to eliminate organizational inefficiency.

The effects of funding source and management ownership on the productivity of R&D

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that firms with a higher level of manager-owner content are more productive with company-financed rather than government-funded research and development. It is suggested that government-funded R&D incorporate potential agency costs, and that sources should be disclosed and included in intangible asset valuation.
