Supporting transition: How managers can help themselves and others during times of change

Article Abstract:

The transition curve model is used to describe human behavioural changes in situations of great stress resulting from a dramatic change to life circumstances such as bereavement or relocation. The curve is broken down into seven phases: shock/immobilisation, denial/minimisation, depression/incompetence, acceptance/letting go, testing, search for meaning and integration. These are illustrated in relation to self-esteem or performance.

Optical Disk to Bring Change

Article Abstract:

Technological developments in micrographics are not expected to advance for the present. But there is a strong future for optical disks. These disks may become a viable alternative to disk storage. Some of the problems associated with optical disks that may prevent their immediate use are a high error rate, prohibitive expense, and unanswered legal questions. Some COM reports can be hooked into IBM computers.

Evaluating predictions of change

Article Abstract:

Merton and Henriksson's method of analyzing the market timing of financial managers in relation to macroeconomic forecasts of change can be applied to forecasts to establish whether forecasts have value for users. This supposition is tested by applying the technique to a set of actual gross national product forecasts.
