Swiss bankers face a determined opponent

Article Abstract:

Norman Rosenbaum, a Melbourne lawyer, cofounded the Australia Asia Pacific Jewish Restitution Committee to retrieve Jewish family funds deposited in Swiss banks during World War II. The Committee has formed links with the U.S. government and the World Jewish Restitution Organisation to obtain leverage needed in persuading the Swiss Bankers Association to reveal names of dormant Jewish accounts and yield their funds to family members.

Sanctions threatened over Swiss accounts

Article Abstract:

Economic sanctions may be levied against Swiss financial institutions if progress is not made in resolving the Holocaust-era accounts issue. Jewish organizations in Australia and overseas are seeking support for the sanctions, as Switzerland's banks are slow to release deposits made by Jews during World War II to their survivors. Claims could total $US120 billion.
