TAB is fit to race

Article Abstract:

The New South Wales gaming company TAB limited is under takeover offer from the Queensland wagering company UNiTAB, and a rival bid is expected from Tabcorp in Victoria. The co-investment clause prevented TAB from making moves on the TABs in South Australia and the Northern Territory that were eventually acquired by UNiTAB.

The Australian gaming industry is not expected to increase greatly in 2002-03. Several large gambling companies including UNiTAB and Tabcorp are looking for acquisitions as growth prospects. However, the firms that lose bidding wars may become takeover targets themselves.
