Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine managerial perceptions on the implementation of total quality management (TQM) in small service businesses in the United States. A total of 550 small businesses were surveyed in northeastern Indiana. Results show that majority of respondents have not established formal TQM programs or quality-enhancing activities. The study also found out that majority of the firms do not reward employees who successfully apply TQM.
