With the assortment of microcomputers in use throughout business organizations, data processing problems are arising in duplication and data base management. To integrate the systems composed of mainframe or minicomputers and micros, planning for compatible hardware and software should come from the large-computer vendors. Data processing managers should choose vendors who keep abreast of current technology, offer improved performance and prices, support industry standards, and provide support and maintenance.

Computers for Business: Dealers Have Their Problems Too

Article Abstract:

According to the Australian Computer Retailers Association, retailers are reporting problems in their relationships with manufacturers. Some manufacturers are selling directly to buyers, while suggesting dealers' displays for customer examination. Suppliers also are accused of cutting prices, leaving the dealers with a backlog to unload as best they can. Some distributors offer sales training only to large retailers. Dealers are threatening to cut support services to customers.
