Cycle time in packaged software firms

Article Abstract:

A survey conducted among software manufacturers revealed that majority are unaware of the value of cycle time reduction. Most of the software developers surveyed, instead, relied on rapid development that focuses on 'crunch' periods of product development. Moreover, they place strong emphasis on small, cohesive development teams that handle most of the product development tasks. They also make limited use of process models and risk analysis techniques in product development. Other key implications taken from the survey are presented.
