The fact that too rapid a promotion up the corporate ladder may damage both careers is addressed. The case of Mary Cunningham, financial wizard formerly with the Bendix Corp., and the furor over her meteoric rise in that corporation is examined. The judgment of the senior executive who leapfrogs a protege into a high position without addressing realities is called to question. Several points that should be looked into are presented.
