The Fed funds futures rate as a predictor of Federal Reserve policy

Article Abstract:

The Federal funds futures market's one and two months forecasts of funds rate are evaluated to determine the efficiency of the market in projecting funds rate fluctuations. The futures rate affect real economic activity, stock and bond prices and other money market interest rates and funds rate forecasts can be used to project short-term changes in monetary policy. The forecasts passed the rationality tests but failed the test of unbiasedness.

Regulatory oversight and automated trading design: elements of consideration

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate the impact of regulations on the design of screen based systems. The study focuses on design features which include access, order execution algorithms and relationships to other systems. The relationship between functions and optimal oversight levels is also investigated. Results show that complex oversight regulations must be considered in the development of such trading systems.

Foreign-exchange trading volume and Federal Reserve intervention

The US Federal Reserve Board's intervention in the foreign exchange system is positively correlated to higher currency future market trading volume between 1979 and 1996.
