The Small Computer Company Announces Data Base Manager for NCR Tower

Article Abstract:

The Small Computer Company has announced a data base management system (DBMS) for NCR's Tower. The DBMS, called filePro NCR, enables a novice to design a system for virtually any application, from a simple customer list to a full accounting system. An electronic file system can be generated within an hour. The system is menu-driven and uses plain English commands. FilePro NCR also features conditional processing, error-checking, and can handle inventory control or any other business function in which price fluctuations are a factor. The package requires 512K bytes of memory, a hard disk drive, and a terminal. It costs $995. A photograph of the Tower is included.

Article Abstract:

In today's dynamic market, a DP manager has a responsibility to keep abreast of new product offerings. One's knowledge can be expanded in four ways. Reading is one way. At least one general computer magazine or newspaper-format periodical should be included in one's library. Technical literature is another source of material. A second way to gain knowledge is by joining a users group. A third way is by attending computer shows. The fourth way is by attending conventions.
