The pressures facing the Australian broking industry are discussed. Fund managers are undertaking their own research, thus scaling down the number of brokers they use, and brokers are now expected to give improved service in areas such as fulfilling orders.

Pretty Girl claims it was sold a pup, not a profit

Issues concerning the dispute between Woolworths and Pretty girl over the sale of Rockmans Stores are discussed. Woolworths sold the 258 store fashion chain Rockmans for A$50 million in December 1999 to Pretty Girl.
