The effect of horizontal alliances on firm productivity and profitability: Evidence from the global airline industry

Article Abstract:

The impact that strategic alliances have on business performance is an important topic of alliance research. The study conducted based on panel data from 22 international airline companies, which formed alliances during the period 1986-1995 revealed that horizontal alliances make a significant contribution to productivity gains, whereas they have no overall significant and positive impact on profitability.

Evaluating the profitability and marketability efficiency of large banks: An application of data envelopment analysis

The author finds that large banks are more efficient in profitability than in marketing. Less profitability-efficient banks are more likely to fail.
