The role of culture compatibility in successful organizational marriage

Article Abstract:

The consolidation of organizations through mergers and acquisitions sometimes end in financial disaster despite initial optimism. In considering a merger or acquisition, it is vital to determine the suitability of the target organization since a wrong match can be financially devastating for both parties. Although a consolidation effort is largely determined by the financial and strategic aspects of the decision, incompatibility in the cultures of involved entities often result in failure. The role of culture compatibility is examined in relation with consolidation results.
