The role of resource access, market considerations, and the nature of innovation in pursuit of standards in the new product development process

Article Abstract:

Standards in high technology markets have a lead role to play with respect to new product development. A study examining customer interface standards from compatibility standards, the factors that motivate a firm to take up one particular kind of standard, and the role of resource access and nature of innovation in influencing a firm to take on a particular kind of standard, is presented.
