PepsiCo.'s business strategy forms the basis of its soft drink operation and represents the responsibility held by each division president. Strategic planning must be based on the culture, the needs, and the management of the corporation. The top firms of the future will be the ones that devise the most effective responses to challenges in the industry and attract the top personnel.

Case history of Frito Lay

Article Abstract:

Frito Lay is a $2 billion operation and is the top division (the biggest profit contributor to) of its parent company, PepsiCo. The company has balanced out the effect of inflation by increasing its prices 18 percent each year for the past two years. The company will skip the brokers, chain warehouses, and wholesalers and go straight to the retail store with its snack products.

Case study: Continental Group's postmortem

Article Abstract:

Continental Group, Inc. attempted to prevent a takeover with the implementation of a restructuring program but was not successful. Different viewpoints of the complicated case study are presented. There is a basic difference in the way a business operation should be managed during the redeployment strategy process and in conducting the business over the long run.
