The use of co-nomination to identify expert participants for Technology Foresight

Article Abstract:

The UK Technology Foresight Program was created to develop stronger ties between scientists and industrialists and to help set priorities for public funded science and technology. Members of the panels and individuals consulted are selected through a process known as co-nomination. This procedure is a survey-based technique where respondents identify potential participants and describe their own abilities. Individuals who are nominated through the surveys are also requested to go through this process. This creates a map of the interrelationship between the fields covered by the panels.

Adjusting the roles of national laboratories: some comparisons between UK, French, and Belgian institutions

Article Abstract:

There is a general review of the functions of national laboratories in highly industrialized nations like the UK, France and Belgium. Exploitation of their resources had been the pattern that existed by facilitating the entry of technology to industry. Although laboratories have provided services such as consultancy and software, there are still setbacks in the program of action UK undertook. This observation is exemplified in related institutions in the UK, France and Belgium.

Perceptions of United Kingdom exporters in transferring technology into the People's Republic of China

Article Abstract:

UK exporters were found to be doubtful of the capability of Chinese research and development institutions. Although the Chinese possess the scientific knowledge in adopting new technologies, they have difficulty determining suppliers of new technology. Moreover, the poor quality of Chinese management slackens the pace of technology transfer. Cultural differences were found to have no significant relation to technology transfer.
