Michigan to probe FirstPlus' soliciting of second mortgages

Article Abstract:

Michigan Attorney General Frank J. Kelley has requested that state regulators conduct a probe of FirstPlus Financial Group Inc. for charges of misleading solicitations. As a result of the request, FirstPlus' shares fell by 12%. Mr. Kelley requested the investigation after the Attorney General's office was provided a second mortgage offer of $42,800 on the state office building where the office is located.

Visa plays a smart card to stop new services from getting all the credit

Article Abstract:

Credit-card companies must strive to maintain market share that electronic commerce may attract. Visa International hopes its new smart cards will fight competition from many large corporations that offer smart cards for digital cash services and access to credit. Visa's Open Platform, uses Java programming language to create an interface between the card's operating system and the platform.
