To increase sales, Burger King plans an image-building overhaul of its 10,000 restaurants

Article Abstract:

Reno, Nevada, is getting the new Burger King prototype with redesigned everything, including logo. Even customer service is to be overhauled until it is flawless, checked with mystery shoppers reporting to headquarters. Kitchen efficiency will be improved with redesign and that should make drive-thru customers happier. The company won't discuss the costs of all the improvements at this early stage. Next in line are 43 Orlando restaurants. Also, Coca-Cola has won an additional 10 years as the fountain drink at Burger King, thought to be more a brand image advantage than profit margin for Coke.

Oakland, California-based Clorox Co. will acquire First Brands Corp. of Danbury, Connecticut, in a $1.52 billion stock deal. STP car care products, kitty litter and Glad trash bags come with the deal along with $440 million in debt. Article Abstract:

Philip Morris decided to bring John D. Bowlin back to Miller Brewing as CEO replacing John MacDonough. Also dismissed were Jack Rooney, vice president of marketing and Christopher Moore, VP of sales.
