Top recognition for former RAAF doctor

Penny Flett is the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year for 1998. She is the executive director at the Brightwater Care Group in Western Australia. Under her command are 1200 employees and a $32 million budget. Flett also won the Ansett Private Sector Award, which recognizes women who work in businesses or organizations employing over 100 people. Telstra additionally honors one woman in each state.

Approximately 300 Australian companies operate in Indonesia. Approximately 150 of them sent expatriate staff home during the political turmoil in May 1998 but many are returning in Jun 1998 as Indonesia's new president Jusuf Habibie takes over and companies reopen. Australia has approximately $3 billion US invested in Indonesia and $3.5 billion US in approved projects in the country.
