U.N. cites rights abuses in East Timor

Article Abstract:

The UN Human Rights Commission passed a resolution that would allow UN officials to gain access to East Timor from Indonesia so that they could investigate charges of human-rights abuses. Rebel leader Antonio Gomes da Costa was captured by the Indonesian military on Apr 3, 1993.

U.N. body condemns abusive nations

Article Abstract:

The UN Human Rights Commission denounced the human-rights violations in Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Sudan and Zaire on Mar 10, 1993. The Commission considered Iraq to have the most serious abuses of human rights.

U.N. group condemns on rights abuses

Article Abstract:

The UNHRC has condemned Cuba for violating human rights. These violations seem to be increasing as Cuba attempts to silence dissent in the face of its economic problems.
