Microsoft loses Java decision in U.S. court

Article Abstract:

San Jose, CA U.S. District Court Judge Ronald M. Whyte rules against Microsoft in its contract dispute suit with Sun Microsystems. Microsoft is ordered to make its browser Internet Explorer and its Windows 98 operating system software compatible with specifications for Sun's Java software. It is believed the verdict against Microsoft will aid the Justice Dept. in its anti-trust suit against Microsoft and will make it more likely that Sun will triumph in its pending 1997 case against Microsoft for unfair competition and patent infringement.
