Australian corporations need to reassess their approach to financial organization and global strategy. Successful multinational enterprises recognize the benefit of streamlining operations so that they enhance profits through supplier networks and marketing alliances. This approach enables them to expand operations without having to assume all costs and risks for entering new markets or diversifying into other businesses.

As companies establish international operations it is important for managers to cultivate cultural self-awareness. Rundle Partners CEO Sally Rundle found in a study of Australian managers in Southeast Asia that only one-fifth are international managers with cultural self-awareness.
