Want to be a Government Insider?

Article Abstract:

The White House Fellows program allows young professional men and women from all sectors of American society the chance to work in high level government agencies for one year. The fellows go through a rigorous screening process, and those select few who are chosen gain a fantastic opportunity to work with and observe high ranking government officials in addition to participating in the inner workings of the government. The government gains access to some of the brightest, most energetic young minds around who often contribute innovative new ideas into their jobs. The government, the Fellow, and the Fellow's employee (who must agree to part with the person for one year) all benefit from this program.

Book Bonus: How you Can Get What You Want by Negotiation

Article Abstract:

Exerpts from Herb Cohen's bestselling book, 'You Can Negotiate Anything', give pointers for successful negotiations. You should recognize the difference between an idea opponent and a visceral opponent. The former merely disagrees with your position: the latter actually dislikes you as a person. Avoid making visceral opponents, by allowing them to save face, especially when others are present. The 'Soviet Style' of negotiation is outlined, and identified by the six distinguishing marks, such as, an extreme initial position or stinginess of concession.
