Congressional initiatives on the Social Security system and on income-tax reform could have a huge impact on the American economy. Although specific legislative proposals are in the distant future, business would support simplification of the present tax system and Social Security improvements.

THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY IS LIKELY TO BE FACING SOME CHANGES AS A RESULT OF THIS FALL'S (1979) CONGRESSIONAL AGENDA. THE HOUSE WILL BE DEALING WITH DISCRIMINATION AND STATE INSURANCE REGULATION. THE SENATE IS CONSIDERING A CHANGE IN THE ANTITRUST LAW EXEMPT STATUS OF THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY.
