... But threat to WTO entry is on the hill

Article Abstract:

The Chinese government's furious response to the accidental bombing of its embassy by NATO forces in Yugoslavia has put a stumbling block to its acceptance as member of the World Trade Organization. However, the real obstacle to China's acceptance is not the stone-throwing students in Beijing but the textile and steel industry lobbyists in Washington. These industries are strongly opposed to the entry of cheap Chinese products in US markets.
