A besom for the Balkans

Article Abstract:

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has large amounts of firepower in Kosovo, but limited room for manoever. NATO has to keep routes open, and provide protection for the Serbian minority. Ethnic Albanians are concerned that Serbs may come in from outside and seek to stir up trouble. The international police force has insufficient resources to do its job, so does not always act on the intelligence it receives. Britain is seen as using a balanced approach in its treatment of ethnic groups in Kosovo, though the French has been said to favor the Serbs, and the US to favor the ethnic Albanians.
