A changing environment

Article Abstract:

Significant changes have taken place in the environmental due diligence sector since the mid-1990s. Relationships between corporate and environmental advisers are starting to become an integral element of day-to-day activities, with multinational firms establishing long-term relationships with consultants. There is still considerable variation in the quality of environmental due diligence, but consultants are seeing an improvement in their working conditions on a practical level.

Article Abstract:

Allied Textiles purchased Bulmer & Lumb, wood dyer and processor in 1987, giving the company 75% of the UK wool dyeing market. Other acquisitions include Sutcliffe Silks, also in 1987, and JB Broadly, a textile coating company. It has also moved into the carpet sector with the acquistion of Tapibel of Belgium. Chief executive John Corrin is welcoming the global challenge which has led to a joint venture with Skumars of India.

Charterhouse bolsters Spanish practices

Potential growth in the Spanish venture capital market has lead to the formation of a joint venture by private equity providers Charterhouse Development Capital and 21 Invest. The two firms believe pooling resources will help both to concentrate on their own particular field, with Charterhouse having expertise in the leveraged buyout market and 21 Invest focusing on medium sized opportunities.
