A clean break from the past

Article Abstract:

McLeod Russel Holdings, previously a diversified industrial company, is restructuring its operations to focus on the core businesses of surface coatings and clean air. The plan is being masterminded by chairman Ian Hazelhurst. The clean air business, carried out through air filtration companies Scandfilter in Sweden and Interfilta in the UK, targets problems such as sick building syndrome and provides air filtration for electronics clean rooms. Hazelhurst is also modernizing and expanding the company's surface coating operations.

The long-term health care sector is undergoing a period of consolidation. Health group Westminster Health Care Holdings's unsuccessful bid for health care company Goldsborough Holdings sparked off a number of mergers and acquisitions in the industry. The merger of health companies Court Cavendish Group and Takare has resulted in a national organisation operating 126 care homes. Westminster Health Care bought PPP Healthcare following its failure to secure Goldsborough.

Kalon paints the town red

Article Abstract:

Kalon Group, a decorative paint supplier, completed its merger with Euridep, TOTAL's paint subsidiary in France, creating the largest decorative paint supplier in the UK and France. Kalon will remain an independent listed UK company and will retain its Yorkshire corporate headquarters.
