A decision support system for urban waste management

Article Abstract:

A decision support system (DSS) was created to effectively manage urban waste in a regional area. The proposed DSS aims to identify alternatives for the siting of new waste facilities in order to fulfill self-sufficiency requirement in the aspect of solid urban waste treatment and disposal. It takes into consideration four assessment models, such as site risk model and environmental impact model, that are useful in assessing identified alternatives.

A hybrid intelligent system for predicting bank holding structures

Article Abstract:

A hybrid decision support system (DSS) was created to forecast bank holding structures. The hybrid DSS, which is composed of a composite model of neural network and rough sets components, integrates different kinds of A1 techniques for data management and modeling. Application of the hybrid DSS on Arkansas banks revealed its ability in accurately classifying 96% of a testing set of four types of bank holding structures.
