Mostecka uhelna spolecnost (MUS) (Czech Republic), mining firm, saw a profit of 129 mil Kc and total outputs of 10.8 bil Kc in 1998. The firm has a stock of 9 bil Kc and more than 9,000 employees. MUS has a 20% share on the Czech solid fuel extraction market and ensures more than 37% of sized coal production in the Czech Republic. The company's coal preparation plant (CPP) finalises nearly 75% of the production of its mining plants. CPP sold 11,964 mil t of coal in 1998. CPP produces a wide line of brown coal products. Appian Group (US) entered MUS in April 1998.

Linet (Czech Republic), hospital equipment manufacturer, expects a turnover of 400 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 340 mil Kc in 1997. The firm supplies 40% of its production to the Czech market, 35% to Germany and 25% to Norway, the UK, the Middle East, Slovakia, Lithuania, Croatia and Russia. The company has 200 employees. Linet has a 50% stake held by Wissner-Bosserhoff (Germny) and a 50% stake by Czech persons. Linet offers one of the most rounded-off lines of products for the equipment of hospital and social care institution interiors.
