A graphic example of an ambitious firm

Article Abstract:

Graphics company Photobition is the UK's largest supplier of graphic products and was formed in 1967. Photobition, whose chairman and chief executive Eddie Marchbanks joined it as a photographic printer in 1976, was the subject of a management buyout in 1990 when its owner, sales promotion firm FKB, collapsed. In Feb 1999, Photobition made an 11 million pounds sterling acquisition of competitor Service Visual Communications, but a hostile bid for digital imaging group Wace was abandoned, although it still retains a 3.5% stake in the company.

Growing in an unglamorous world

Article Abstract:

A hands-on management approach focusing on vigorous marketing leads to good capital gains and high returns, according to Ashtenne Holdings Joint Chief Executive Ian Watson. The company now has a portfolio of just under 10 million sq ft of industrial property and 680 acres of developable land on 150 estates. Fellow Joint Chief Executive Morgan Jones emphasizes that they hold detailed discussions with tenants before making a purchase. They find that it is not difficult to fill space, even in properties which have had vacancies for some time.
