A pool of ideas

Article Abstract:

Studio E Architects has designed a swimming pool for Hailebury School. The key features of the design include the extremely sculptural floating roof, supported by structural trees, and the use of glazing to allow views right through the interior. The design has gained particular acclaim for the directness of the architectural and engineering approach. Studio E worked with Max Fordham Associates to produce a consistent low-energy strategy for the pool, which has double glazing to ensure that internal glazed surfaces remain warm.
