Just when the US seemed to be entering a period of economic recovery came the word that the unemployment rate jumped to 7.5% in May. While inflation seems to be under control, a lasting recovery probably depends on increased business investment.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is predicting an average economic growth rate of 3% for 24 member countries in 1992. The US is expected to experience a growth rate of 3.6% in 1993.
