A neophyte's guide to Swiss cheese

Switzerland's cheese is one of the best in the world any way it is served. The Swiss cheese tradition is almost as important to Switzerland's economy as its travel industry. The country boasts of the most hygienic and innovative cheese-making technology which results in the melt-in-your-mouth goodness of old-fashioned rustic cheese. Some of its most famous varieties include mountain cheeses, the giant Emmentaler, Gruyere, the Raclette cheeses, hard cheeses, Tete de Moine, Apenzeller, the Swiss Tilsiter and Vacherin Mont D'Or.

Switzerland is upgrading its cable television networks despite the fact that it has already one of the highest ranking cable infrastructure in Europe. The upgrade of the cable-television networks will cost hundreds of millions and is aimed at improving services to about 91% of the 2.6 million TV households in the country. This, in spite of the fact that Swiss cable TV has outranked the cable infrastructure of other European countries with regards to bandwidth, quality and the most number of TV channels that are available.

How safe is our beef?

Swiss food producers and grocery owners have launched a marketing campaign to provide safe beef to consumers through such labels as +Natura-Beef+, Agri Natura and Bio-Box to counter widespread fears about mad cow disease. A large amount of money has been allocated to the marketing of beef products with environmental-friendly names. Marketers claim that such products, besides being free from the dreaded disease, are free of chemicals and hormonal additives.
