Hong Kong's Star TV is making inroads in India, challenging the country's very boring state-run television monopoly. Indians used to seeing little but government propaganda programs are delighted to see televised entertainment. Star TV hopes to begin 24-hour programming in India by Oct 1993.

Patriot games: anti-missile defenses

Article Abstract:

The General Accounting Office has done a strict investigation of the Patriot Missile's performance during the Persian Gulf War. Finding show that only 9% of the missiles were effective. The Defense Dept has reduced its claims of effectiveness from 96% to 52%.
