A probabilistic interpretation of the final rankings in AHP

Article Abstract:

The pairwise comparison input data in the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) can be treated as independent random variables. Since the AHP offers the decision alternative with the highest score as the preferred alternative, this will allow the determination of whether the differences between alternatives are statistically significant. For big decision problems, however, a simulation experiment that will test whether differences are significant or not is suggested, since an analytic calculation of statistically significant differences may necessitate a large amount of calculations.

Preference and veto thresholds in multicriteria analysis based on stochastic dominance

Article Abstract:

Mean-risk analysis and stochastic dominance (SD) methods are generally used to contrast the performance of numerous actions that a decision-maker can examine. Stochastic dominance (SD) method is widely applied in decision analysis than the mean-risk analysis, as the decision-maker's goal is to reduce values of all attributes. The decision-maker's strict and weak preference situations can be differentiated using preference thresholds. ELECTRE-III method is followed in obtaining the ranking of alternatives.
