Shedding light on photonic architecture

Article Abstract:

Architect, Ian Ritchie presented a lecture to the Bristol Society of Architecture describing his work as being about the use of light. Ritchie illustrated his interpretation of light and lightness in structures with examples from his 20 year career. He has used both natural and artificial light in buildings as diverse as Stockley Park and The planned Meridian Planetarium while the use of light structures was illustrated by the La Villette Museum of Science and Technology. Ritchie's lecture ended with speculation on the influence of light technology on architecture in the future.
