A sweet stock deal for Citic Pacific's Yung

Article Abstract:

Citic Pacific Chmn. Larry C.K. Yung was at the receiving end of big deal when China International Trust and Investment Corp. sold 291 million shares to him for $1.64 billion, 24% less the original amount. Each share sold for $HK33 from its original closing price of HK43.60. China International also sold 39 million shares to some Citic Pacific senior staff at the same price of HK$33 per share. Insiders say that the transaction ensures the future of Citic Pacific, a holding company that has investments in telecommunications, real estate, power plants and other businesses in China.

Colony's Wheelock looks to continue expansion amid management shakeup

Wheelock Marden and Co. recently reassured its investors that the company remains committed to its long-term expansion strategy despite the retirement of its chairman, Peter Woo, and its ongoing management reorganization. Some quarters have speculated that Woo's retirement would result in loss of momentum with regard to the expansion strategy he had engineered. However, other analysts are confident that Wheelock will push through with its expansion plans.

Hopewell to cut power stake: reduced plant holdings will control debt rises

Article Abstract:

Hopewell Holdings Ltd is planning to cut its stakes in Tanjung Jati plants to 50% in order to cut the company's debt. The company currently holds 80% of Tanjung C and 70% of Tanjung B. The company plans to sell off its stake to other investors that have not been named. The total cost of the projects is pegged at $3.39 billion and would double its current power generation capacity in Indonesia.
