A tactical model for airing new seasonal products

Article Abstract:

The optimal airing time for marketing new, seasonal products was explored. Specifically, the relationships between the television advertising cost, consumer viewing and purchasing behavior and sales were correlated to derive a stochastic model for individual products. The model was applied to situations involving two products, two channels and two presentation methods, respectively. A mathematical programming-based solution using the model was derived for each case.

A model for analyzing multi-channel distribution systems

Article Abstract:

A model made up of two applications is suggested to address the drawbacks in multi-channel distribution systems. The first application contemplates a trade-off between the utilization of existing distribution channels and expansion into a direct sales channel by a retailer. The second application analyses cost effectiveness of distributing products by combining the distribution channels of two retailers after a merger and acquisition.

Composing batches with yield uncertainty

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine a class of job design problems derived from the fabrication process of printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. Ths study focuses on a generic manufacturing environment where jobs enter batch processing and considers the inclusion of yield losses. Results show that performance measures can be developed for various manufacturing environments and for determining optimal batch compositions.
