U.S. set to alter payment rules for international calls
Article Abstract:
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is likely to proceed with a plan that will result in lower settlement rates paid by US telephone carriers to overseas phone companies that carry calls from the US. The lower rates will cut the estimated $5 billion that foreign phone companies receive from US carriers annually. Industry observers believe that the FCC will push forward with the plan despite opposition from Asian long-distance carriers.
