A unique promotion at MacLaren

Article Abstract:

MacLaren McCann Toronto has recently appointed Andrea Parnell as vice president group account director with overall responsibility for the agency's Royal Bank account. Parnell's promotion is reportedly the first time in the agency's history that overall responsibility for a major piece of business has been given outside the traditional account service department. Parnell, who has been with the firm since 1988, will reportedly continue to manage the media AOR account as well as handle MacLaren's creative assignments for the Royal, which include business banking activities, personal banking products and RBC Insurance.

AT&T's marketing VP builds A-team

Article Abstract:

Toronto, Canada-based, AT&T Canada Long Distance Services Co.'s vice president for marketing, John Boynton, is credited for increasing the number of the firm's marketing staff to about 22, from its previous level of fourteen. Boynton, who assumed his post in the summer of 1997, maintains that the the improvement in the company's marketing staff is part of the efforts of the telecommunications services provider to enhance efficiency and profitability. AT&T Canada Long Distance Service has also increase marketing spending to achieve their desired goal.

Lever-Pond's head tweaks strategy

Article Abstract:

Lever-Pond's Pres Jon Achenbaum, who was appointed president of the Toronto, Ontario-based cosmetics manufacturer in Jan 1999, plans to continue the company's growth by fine tuning instead of changing the strategy put in place by his predecessor Mark Landry. He says that the Unilever Canada unit will focus on certain brands, including Dove soap, Finesse shampoo and Vaseline Intensive Care skin lotion. Having been a former VP of marketing, Achenbaum claims he has already though of a number of marketing innovations to promote the brands.
