ABN AMRO LOGS 68% NET IN INDIA

ABN Amro Bank posted a 68 percent growth in net profits to Rs65.07 crore in 1997-978, from its Indian operations. Net profit margin increased to 17.4 percent (14.4 percent in 1996-97). Its total income increased by 39 percent to Rs373.85 crore (Rs269.14 crore). Borrowings increased to Rs995.58 crore (Rs467.91 crore). RIBs DO INDIA PROUD, MOP UP OVER $3.75 BN

Article Abstract:

The Resurgent India Bonds from the State Bank of India has mobilised over $3.75 billion at the close of the offer on August 24, 1998. The bank says that after providing for statutory requirements and extending rupee funds to arranging banks, it would be left with about Rs4000 crore. The bank would keep $1 billion of the collections overseas and bring $2.75-3 billion in to the country. (khr)
