AMERICA/EUROPE: DIRECT MARKETING IN QUESTION

Article Abstract:

Pitney Bowes carried out a survey in five countries (Germany, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States) in June 2001, which showed that direct marketing is no longer suited to clients' needs. Of those surveyed 75% think that too many offers are not suited to their needs, 74% think that too many companies want to attract their attention while they are at home, and 72% say that they prefer to be contacted by regular mail. In order to meet the needs and expectations of clients, it is better to opt for targeted postal mail, or by telephone if the client is offered the possibility of choosing the place and time for the telephone call - a desire expressed by 58% of those surveyed. According to Pitney Bowes, it is inexcusable that there are imperfect client services or communications in the current technological context.
