AMP SETS UP FIBRE OPTIC UNIT IN B'LORE

Article Abstract:

AMP India has set up a unit at Bangalore for producing cable assemblies and fibre optic components. The unit is located adjacent to AMP India's existing facility at Whitefield. The unit has been set up at a cost of $2 million-$3 million. AMP Inc, the parent of AMP India, plans to make the Bangalore unit equal to its Harrisburg unit in terms of size. The unit will concentrate on exports for the next few years. It will manufacture products which are used in networking infrastructure, transmission equipment, cross connects, large telephony equipment and data networking equipment. (ag)(vr)

SABAVALA EXITS TATA SONS, SETS TONE FOR REVAMP

Article Abstract:

Mr SA Sabavala has resigned from the post of Director of Tata Sons, the Tata group's holding company. He was one of the senior- most directors in the group and his exit may pave the way for other senior directors to resign and enable a restructuring exercise in the group's management. Mr Sabavala is also exiting from the board's of Voltas, Tata Housing and key Tata trusts like the JRD Tata Trust, JRD Thelma Trust and the RD Tata Trust. He will continue to be director on the board of Tata Steel until the company's next annual general meeting. (khr)
