ARGENTINA: ARLA FOODS TO SET UP A PLANT

Article Abstract:

Arla Foods, the Danish-Swedish dairy giant, is to set up a new whey protein plant in Argentina under a joint venture deal with , the leading dairy company in Latin America. Arla Foods will invest between DKr500mn and DKr600mn in the plant that is to produce food ingredients to the South American food industry. Arla Foods CEO Andreas Lundby says the company opted for Argentina as it can not acquire more whey i Denmark or Sweden. Besides, Argentina has the cheapest milk in the world due to low animal feed prices and the people in Argentina are major consumers of cheese with an annual cheese production of 450,000 tonnes a year. Skanska, the Swedish construction company, has been awarded the contract to set up the plant via a local building contractor.

GERMANY: TELE DANMARK TO INVEST IN CABLE NETWORK

Article Abstract:

Through its German subsidiary Talkline, Tele Danmark, the Danish telecom, will invest in a 2,700 kilometres fibre network in Germany. The so-called backbone network, which will be called TeamNet, will connect the German cities Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf. The investment is part of Tele Danmark's expansion in northern, central and eastern Europe which has been agreed with its owner SBC Communications.

Slovakia: Danfoss has acquired plant

Article Abstract:

A plant in Slovakia has been acquired by the Danish company Danfoss. The plant is a producer of components for compressors and was previously owned by Calex, the Slovakian producer of fridges. The plant will be modernised to be able to increase production. Within twelve months, it will employ up to 200 persons, according to Hans Kirk, CEO of Danfoss.
