Article Abstract:

Germany is still the biggest Danish export market. In 1999, exports to Germany are estimated at DKr 67bn (USD 9.1bn), a 50% increase since 1990. Germany accounts for 20% of Danish exports. Exports to Sweden, which is the second biggest export market, have grown by 20% in the same period. In the 1990's, exports to "growth markets" such as Poland and Brazil have increased four-fold, and to China and Hong-Kong three-fold. Exports to EU countries such as Ireland. Spain and Finland, have increased by more than 100%, 81% and 66% respectively. Western Europe now accounts for 75% of Danish exports, compared with 77% in 1990.

DENMARK: EXPORTS TO GROW BY 5% ANNUALLLY

Article Abstract:

Danish export volumes will increase by 5.2% in 2000 and 5.3% in 2001, according to a forecast by Dansk Industri, the Federation of Danish Industries. This is a considerable increase in growth rate, as the export growth in 1998 and 1999 was 2.1% and 3.7% respectively. 1998 was affected by the labour conflict in Denmark, and Danish exporters lost market share. The expectation of future growth is based on the fact that the economies in Europe and Japan are developing positively.
