AT&T to go local in New York

Article Abstract:

AT&T Corp. announced that it is planning to provide local telephone services to New York residential customers by the end of the 1999 year. AT&T is the largest carrier of long distance services in the US. The carrier will first provide local phone services in New York by leasing Bell Atlantic Corp.'s local lines. AT&T will do this instead of utilizing cable television lines.
