AUSTRIA: ANNUAL INCIDENCE OF LYME DISEASE

Article Abstract:

Annually about 30,000 people in Austria are infected with Lyme disease. Professor Dr Gerold Stanek from the Clinical Institute for Hygiene at the University of Vienna, however, estimates that the true number of cases is considerably higher, as a large number of cases remain undiagnosed.

Annually between 70 and 100 Austrians contract malaria. According to Prof. Herwig Kollaritsch, annually 1-2 people in Austria die from malaria.
